October's Truck of the Month is the oldest rig we’ve showcased so far and is one of the most impressive of all the beauties we’ve featured.
It’s a 1949 Peterbilt 350 owned by Jerry Howard of Fairborn, Ohio. Named “El Turbo,” the Pete is quite famous, having run up and down the West Coast for over 50 years.
El Turbo is powered by a 400 bhp Cummins mated to a 13 speed with a 4 speed auxiliary transmission routed to 3:70 rears. This famous Peterbilt has a giant 120 inch custom built homemade stainless steel sleeper with all the amenities a trucker could need.
Howard is an owner/operator working in the Ohio area. The Pete has over 6 million miles on it and still runs the roads and attends a lot of truck shows.
Jerry’s interests are “trucks and more trucks” and owns several other vintage models, some of which we hope to show-off and exhibit in the future here on DuncanPutman.com!
